It's time to invest in skills
Seize the opportunity during the slowdown to develop your urban design skills and position yourself at the forefront of the design agenda. Attending the CABE urban design summer school will allow you to invest in your skills or those of your organisation.
Invest in your personal skills and knowledge in the key interdisciplinary area of urban design. In difficult times those who have specialist knowledge and broad place-making skills succeed.
Invest in private sector skills. Make sure your key people are prepared to work as effectively as possible, with vital skills and knowledge in place-making. In a slow market, quality and value-added design sells, so invest in skills now and prepare your firm for today and for growth during the upturn.
Invest in public sector skills. The public sector is picking up the pieces but new skills are needed to deliver quality development. The slow-down in activity is an opportunity to develop policies and guidance for design quality and to invest in the public realm as a stimulus to development. These both need urban design know-how and the CABE urban design summer school will help your staff lead the design agenda and promote good design principles.
