The delivery team

CABE is the government’s advisor on architecture, urban design and public space. A key part of our work is to provide trailblazing learning opportunities to those who are designing and delivering the built environment. The CABE urban design summer school is one of its flagship programmes.

To deliver the summer school, CABE is delighted to be working in partnership with a consortium of leading educators, designers and consultants, who bring with them a broad range of experience and expertise:

The Centre for Urban Design Outreach and Skills (CUDOS) at Birmingham City University leads the team. CUDOS has grown out of the reputable MA Urban Design course at the Birmingham School of Architecture in 2007. The Centre specialises in training, consultancy, and research and development to inform a more community-centred urban design practice.

R99 is co-ordinating the management of the summer school. It has a proven track record in the management of learning programmes in urban design for local authorities, architecture centres and government bodies.

Gaia Group is part of an international consortium with offices in Scotland and Norway. The group focuses on sustainable design in architecture, planning and research projects.

Urban Design Exchange is an urban design and regeneration consultancy experienced in leading the development of strategic masterplans, residential neighbourhood design and city centre regeneration plans.

Urban Design Skills is a specialist urban design consultancy that promotes best practice through training, innovation, design guidance and masterplanning.
